THE ASSOCIATION OF ENGINEERS & SCIENTISTS FOR NEW AMERICANS (AES)




AES is a non-profit organization founded in 1981 by immigrant-professionals
from the Former Soviet Union and other Eastern European countries.


AES unites specialists of all technical areas

- engineers, architects, chemists, biologists,physicists, mathematicians,
computer specialists and scientists from the various branches of science.

The main goals of AES are:

-to help specialists in the complicated process of professional, legal,mental and cultural adjustment to American society,
-to inform AES members about American system of higher and continuing education and the employment market,
-to assist members in establishing professional contacts with colleagues who have experiance working in the USA,
-help AES members to continue their education, to promote their skills, to find a job, and/or study a related profession.

AES major programs are:

-ESL courses including individual conversational sessions with Americans-volunteers,
-consultations, seminars, professional lectures, and employment services,
-ESL-INTERLEX for computer science, engineering, medicine,
-special courses for professionals in computers, financial and medical fields,
-courses to prepare for City and State Job examinations.

Membership fees:

$25 individual AES membership
$35 Family AES membership
$100-249 Sponsoring AES membership
$250-499 Sustaining AES membership
$500 and over Guardian AES membership
$12 Senior citizens, students, and newcomers (first 3 years in USA)
$18 Family Senior citizen membership
$500 Companies, Corporations, and Institutions
