The members of JURI are highly educated
refugees and immigrants from the former USSR.
JURI is a member of the Council of Jewish Organizations
Immigrants form the FSU (CJOI) Greater New York Region.
The most important purposes of JURI are to aid Jewish
immigrants
and refugees to provide them economic, cultural, educational,
professional, legal, and job placement.
JURI has helped thousands of immigrants and
refugees to their integration into American Jewish community.
JURI creates educational and cultural programs:
lectures and seminars in Jewish History, culture, music,
Jewish movies special concerts of Jewish music and songs in
Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian, and Farsi.
Special courses for senior citizens in
preparation for citizenship test and naturalization,
ESL courses, consultations, seminars, professional lectures,
and employment services.
JURI acts as an information and referral source, including printed materials and
newspapers reflecting our Jewish community life.
JURI has the ability to help together with
other Jewish organizations the absorption process for newly arrived
refugees and immigrants to enable them to become productive
members of the American society, including programs for needy
Jewish, senior citizen, and teenagers.
JURI is a not-for-profit organization,
exempt from Federal income taxes of the Internal Revenue code under
section 501 (c)3.
It is a Charitable, Cultural, and Educational organization
serving the Community since 1978. |
